In some Scottish families, a gesture is passed down discreetly. When arranging a bouquet for the home, a single drop of whisky is placed in the clear water of the vase. Just one. Like adding a signature to a letter, a secret.

Whisky, made from sweet barley, provides the water with a tiny reserve of nutrients. The sugars nourish the cut stem, prolonging its tension and keeping the flower youthful. The corolla remains firm. The petals retain their shape. The light lingers on them longer.

This gesture fascinated me.

I chose meadowsweet from the heart of a bouquet of wildflowers. A flower almost indecently pure, with honeyed scents, which the mist envelops like bare skin under a woolen knit.

Flower of Scotland was born from this encounter:
the delicate flesh of a flower, caressed by the amber warmth of whisky.

The gesture is simple. The result, disturbing.
The flower does not surrender to the warmth of the malt. It stretches against it, blossoms, and becomes more vibrant.

In the land of legends, desire is never brutal.
It is a drop of gold in the innocence of white.
