Bel Embrun was born from the wood that had known the open sea.

In the 19th century, tall ships crossed oceans powered only by the wind. On their decks, teak, white oak, and deep mahogany were rubbed, oiled, and varnished until they were as smooth as skin exposed to the sun. Salt settled on them. Sea spray left its mark. The wood absorbed stories.

Bel Embrun captures that suspended moment as day fades over the sea. The deck is still warm to the touch. The salty air caresses the back of the neck. In the cabin, black tea infused with bergamot steams gently. A wisp of cigar smoke mingles with the resin of the varnish, with that sweet, almost fruity note once imparted by freshly applied shellac.

The wood is not decorative here. It is visceral.

Bel Embrun is an architecture of powerful woods: hinoki, vetiver, patchouli, palo santo and piri-piri amour. Around them, cedars and blond woods bring a dry, sun-drenched, almost golden feel.

Incense, styrax, guaiac wood, and white oud create smoky, resinous, slightly leathery shadows. Spices—nutmeg, cardamom, peppers, pink peppercorns—evoke cargoes crossing oceans.

A hint of varnish and elemi evokes the protected wood of ships. A smoky, almost burnt note suggests coated ropes and the ember of a cigar in the cabin.

Then emerges a vegetal and tannic freshness: bergamot, mate, rooibos, sage and absinthe, like a black tea brewed at sea.

Finally, iodine and mineral facets, carried by seaweed and a marine accord, leave the imprint of sea spray on the skin. Natural fragrance, over 95%. Organic alcohol.
